Bidhan Chandra Roy (1882-1962) was a prominent Indian physician, freedom fighter, and politician. He played a significant role in the Indian independence movement and later became the second Chief Minister of West Bengal, serving from 1948 until his death in 1962. Roy was instrumental in the development of infrastructure and industrialization in West Bengal and is also remembered for his contributions to medical education and public health. July 1st, his birthday, is celebrated as National Doctors’ Day in India in his honor.
